Description
A creamy, spicy delight perfect for party appetizers, combining melted cheese with the tangy kick of tomatoes and green chilies.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 can (10 ounces) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
- 1 pound ground beef or sausage, cooked and drained (optional)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup diced onions (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
- 1 jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain the excess fat and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the cubed Velveeta cheese and the can of Rotel tomatoes and green chilies. Stir periodically to promote even melting.
- Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until the cheese is completely melted and smooth, about 10-15 minutes.
- Add the cooked ground meat, chili powder, garlic powder, and any additional add-ins you prefer, such as onions or jalapeños. Stir well to combine.
- Continue to cook over low heat for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or a slow cooker set to warm to keep it at the perfect temperature for serving.
